do u have thoughts on the dynamic between omega will and alpha mike yet? are they same as canon and best friends, is it following canon or just in that 80s world? or are they strangers who meet and get obsessed? that might make it easier to help discuss the plot!

Ok so what I have so far is like world building I guess? But to answer your question, Mike and Will's dynamic will still be what it is in canon.

The world building ideas I've had so far is about how A/B/O Dynamics work in this setting, bc obviously you can go a lot of different ways with it. I really like the idea that they're a very old part of human physiology that exists to facilitate reproduction, but is also totally unnecessary by the modern era (kinda like how we all still have appendixes even though we don't need them anymore). The majority of people are betas, and bc it's tied to reproduction, alphas are usually men, and omegas are usually women. Female alphas are very uncommon, and male omegas are even more uncommon.

Enter Will. Will (who will be the pov), in the show, is bullied and harrased by people in Hawkins bc it's a conservative town and he is visibly queer/does not behave how a boy/man """should""". In this story all of that still takes place, but with the added element that Will is a male omega, making all of the harassment even worse bc even though it's statistically possible for men to be omegas, it's still "not right". Will presenting is also 100% gonna be the reason Lonnie walks out on their family (Side note: I know some writers go further with A/B/O and give female alphas and male omegas a whole secondary set of reproductive organs but that's not my cup of tea, no shade to anyone who likes it tho).

So yeah, Mike and Will are still friends growing up together in the 80s. I'm picturing this story is slowburn and takes place over a long period of time. But I don't have much more than that.

Steve learns this but then he starts dating A!Nancy & he feels so in love, so he learns everything he can abt her like her favorite colors or favorite material to wear etc. all in the effort to make a sweater for her for their approaching one yr anniversary,

When Nancy gets to Jonathan's apartment tht night Steve is sitting on the couch unraveling the project he'd undertaken for Nancy while Jonathan cooks him & Steve dinner, Jonathan hands Nancy the small bag of things she'd "forgotten" in his apartment & tht he won't say anything at work unless she makes this a problem, then Steve hands Nancy three much bigger bags full of the half-assed courting gifts she'd given him & everything he'd encouraged/allowed her to keep at his own place & tht he wasn't interested in hearing anything she had to say, the 2 then tell Nancy she should leave & she does but not without getting a snide remark out abt Steve being clingy & Jonathan being oblivious

Steve cries after she's left & Jonathan does too but they lean on the other & eat the food Jonathan made them & begin a friendship

A friendship tht slowly morphs into something more & leads to a kiss on Steve's couch almost half a year later & when Steve's heat approaches after the kiss he asks Jonathan to join him & it's full of so much care & Jonathan tells Steve he loves him the day after his heat cools & Steve says it back, they end up exchanging mating bites 3 years later & Steve makes Jonathan a sweater of his favorite colors & the softest cotton yarn & Jonathan is ecstatic to receive it especially when he unfolds it & a positive pregnancy test tumbles out onto his lap

The door to Will's hospital room opens. Steve assumes the sweet, woody scent that brushes against his instincts is Mrs Byers. His instincts recognize it from her house, after all, barely noticable beneath the smell of blood and gasoline. When he looks up, though, he sees Jonathan. More questions add themselves to the long list the night has asked. Unlike the ones that have turned his world upside down, however, these ones might have answers.

Back in middle school, Jonathan lost the delicate, milky scent of an underage omega. It wasn't uncommon, young alphas and omegas occasionally presented as betas when they came of age, so no one thought much of it. This is from a Stranger Things Fan-Fiction with omega!Mike and Alpha!Will. It is sorta of best friends to lovers, accidentally bonding/friends with benefits and secret relationship type fanfiction, set in the omegaverse.

As of write now it is called "we are made for loving eachother." and I have not posted the first chapter yet.

It is having been a long time since William Jacob Byers, Will has seen his best friend Michael Theodore Wheeler, Mike smiles this wide and was this happy. It has been months since they defecated Vecna.

It turned out he was the original target before spring break and not their friend Maxine Mayfield, Max. Vecna could not kill her and Jane El Hopper, El saved her from death. Vecna went after Mike again.

They cope together by making dark jokes together about their depression and the fact that they are both now disabled. They try their best to help each-other out. Max is mostly paralyzed from the waist down mostly requiring a wheelchair and her vision was damaged so severely she had surgery and still needs glasses. Mike is blind in right eye and his left leg is paralyzed for the most part. He must wear sunglasses sometimes because his eye is now sensitive to light and needs help with his balance and coordination. Depending on the day, he will use his leg brace and cane or must use his wheelchair.

The Byers and Hoppers have moved back. Hawkins is being re-built and the government again is trying to hide what has happened. Will is staying with the Wheeler until they have a proper place to stay.

He twinkles bright like a bumble bee soaking in sunshine. He smells sweet and back to his normal self like fresh honeypie and parchment paper. Will admires the beautiful scene before him. He wants to so badly and desperately scent and kiss him.

Mike is wearing his baggy KISS band t-shirt, jean shorts that stop right before his knees, black ankle socks and his leg brace. Only Mike could make a mixtape that has songs with bubblegum pop and rock ‘n’ roll.

Mike’s giggling and laughter is music to Will’s ears playing along with the boom box blasting ABBA. They are sitting together they on Mike’s bed. Will is behind him gently running his fingers through the dark curls and braiding his hair that now reach past the shoulders.

Currently, their relationship has been growing back together, their friendship is stronger than ever. It is like when they were little.
